Trend Report - AW14

Though summer is still at its peak I can't wait to see how the latest AW14/15 trends will be adapted for the high street. Here are some of my favourite looks from the catwalks:

The Suit:
From the rich jewel tones of Dior's fitted two-pieces, to Gucci's 'geek chic' looks set with bold framed glasses and Stella McCartney's effortlessly sleek suits, I can't get enough of this autumn trend. I've always loved the appeal of androgynous looks and I do feel empowered when sporting more traditionally masculine styles. However these suits do retain femininity either in their elegant cuts, colourways, or sophisticated loose forms that frame and elongate the body.

Sweet Shop Shades:

Although candy-cane colours are usually associated with spring/summer, I'm delighted to see that these pretty shades are still sweet for autumn/winter! Whether they're coolly metallic, as the likes of Ashish and Miu Miu show, or in muted neons, seen with Christopher Kane, Alexander Wang and Carven, I'm all for this fresh take on the autumn palette.

Red:

I really need more red in my life. I feel that the vibrant, bold shade suits anyone, it's a great colour for creating an impact. With D&G's play on Little Red Riding Hood, this colour is also perfect for getting into the Christmas season. Other designers have opted for a more casual uptake on red by breaking it up and incorporating it in more modern forms. I particularly like Johnathan Saunders' mix of deep pink and red in patchwork patterns.

Embroidered & Embellished:

It's going to be a winter wonderland of the folkloric and mystical this upcoming season, with embroidered lace featuring fairytale designs. Expect embellishment, beading, and heavily textured pieces. And don't forget the capes!
