Candy Girl

As I've no doubt mentioned, I'm crazy for pastels. Give me mint green, lemon yellow or sugary peach and I'll devour any of it! So when I feasted my eyes on this patent sky blue skirt from Missguided, I felt that I had to experiment with it. Here I've mixed it with a candy pink top flecked with white. I find the backless detail quite fun and I like the play of textures, especially with my pony effect bag from Zara, which feels lovely and soft! Anyone else thinks this outfit looks good enough to eat?  X

House of Sunny

House of Sunny is a fashion forward brand which really intrigues me. Prominent in its cohesive and unusual collections are exaggerated forms, where sharply cut edges blend with and give form to the loosely fitted designs. I like how the 'clean flawless aesthetic' of their garments is enhanced through a monotone, neutral pallet, though there are some striking patterns scattered in the mix. The structured and masculine silhouettes are quite powerful for me, though I feel they are softened by their luxurious use of fabric. It's great that HoS promotes wearable, staple pieces that will really endure, both in their quality and their innovative approach to style.

And here are the pieces I would love to get my hands on:

This laid back crop is still made feminine by its silky fabric and softly shaped sides.

I really love the cool mix of textures on this dress which are distinct, even though they overlap with the buckle tie running across
Love it - this suit would definitely turn heads in the office!

All is Rosey

A simple outfit today, but one which I feel is made interesting by rich colours and lavish patterning. I had this skirt on my 'Topshop only' January wishlist as I loved the decorative crochet trim and vintage style floral design - it reminds me of a pretty lampshade! I wanted to pick out the reddish tones of the skirt with my good old suede boots and enhance its opulent appeal with my rose gold bag from Mango. As a metallic fiend this bag is currently my prized possession; I wear it everywhere. For me the more worn it gets, the better it looks!

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted! I can partly attribute it to the fact that I've decided to torture myself by doing Tough Mudder (a crazily fun obstacle filled and muddy run), so I have been spending a lot of my time gasping for breath. I may soon post some updates on the training I've been doing and some of the healthy, without forgetting tasty, recipes I have been attempting to follow, but now I'm on track I'd love to show you these super cute 'Little Mirror' illustrations a friend of mine so kindly created. I count myself very lucky to have this adorable animated association to my blog, especially when this mini-me is sporting Charlotte Olympia shoes. The bit I like best has to be the happy little tongue wagging pug as the ultimate blogger companion... if only it was real! Thanks very much Utam :) x

Vintage Rework

The 50s is my favourite era for fashion inspiration, in its intensification of the feminine silhouette, a celebration of new colours and fabrics and a sense of luxury instilled after the war. A couture culture was heightened by prominent designers; Dior's nipped in waists and full skirts and Chanel's straight suited looks really inspired an ease of glamour. We still rely heavily on the signature styles of the era, but we also have a desire for vintage pieces that we can combine into our modern  looks and claim as our own. One of my vintage relics is my Lucite box bag, with an intricate lace surrounding and carved patterned lid. If you don't mind the contents of your bag being on show then it's a very pretty accessory to carry round! I've stayed somewhat true to the 50s with a pencil skirt, high heels and Hawaiian style shirt - hope you enjoy :) x

New Things

I have a lot of unusual things in my room, though I must admit, when I walked in from work recently to find this book on my bed, I did find it quite weird. Was someone trying to tell me something? Did I need to write to someone I admired and didn't even know about? Nope, it was my mum, who found this in the local charity shop and thought it was up my street. It is a nice looking book, and it was a fun read with lots of examples of the different love letters from the casual to delirious - I'll have to try out writing one some time! I also got a few presents; the cute Topshop scrunchie which makes me feel like I have tiny bunny ears on my head; my bright red L'Oreal Color Riche lipstick in Pure Red, which stays well and somehow tastes great; and some My Little Pony tattoos, just for fun. I also got a rose gold watch which goes with almost everything and isn't to large for me as I'm not a major accessory wearer. Finally, I topped up of my favourite perfume by Vera Wang.

I had these photos taken a while ago (hence the massive coat) though thought I may as well put them up! Especially since I'm wearing the coolest crop I own - who doesn't love a bit of Hagrid? I've opted for dark colours with a sheer maxi skirt which makes me feel more 'witch' like, in the hope that I'd be worthy of Hogwarts... But if that fails, Rock on Ruby have some other fun tops and jumpers, channeling mermaids, unicorns and even Mean Girls. Worth a look!
